“The unique thing is that right now there are a lot of remote technologies that exist in the corporate and entrepreneurial world, but we are using the same technology [for blind people]” – Suman Kanuganti
Technology today hasn’t quite made blind people able to see, but we’re almost there. Aira.IO is a platform developed by founder Suman Kanugant which uses technology similar to that used by Google Glass, for a remote agent to be able to guide blind people in their every day lives. Suman started his business from scratch and has high aspirations for the future. In today’s show, Jacob talks to Suman about the use of disruptive technology, the challenges of running a startup company and the importance of being focused on your goals.
“It’s a balance between presenting or utilizing the greatest and latest technologies to a remote agent in an intuitive fashion so they can assist a blind person”– Suman Kanuganti Play Podcast

Written Podcast Transcription:
Jacob: Hello everybody and welcome to the Enchanting Lawyer podcast. This is your host, Jacob Sapochnick. Just like we do every week, we interview the brightest minds in startups, in law, in technology. These are people that risen above the normal and they share their ideas with us and help us become better at what we do. This week we have a young entrepreneur, a very interesting person that I got to know over the past year.
The reason I’m excited about today’s show is because not only this person is remarkable in the way he establish himself in technology, but also the company that he co-founded is doing amazing things. We’re talking about a company called aira.IO. Aira’s unique services help blind and low vision users gain greater mobility and independence via network of trained agents and assistive technology. When I first heard about this I was just blown away.
Suman, welcome to the show. How are you today?
Suman: Good, Jacob, and thanks for the introduction.
Jacob: Excellent. Suman, I know you’re here in San Diego and enjoying the beautiful weather here. There’s been a lot of progress with the company over the past 6 months but I’m particularly interested to learn about how you came about to start this and this amazing technology that’s definitely changing people’s lives. Why don’t you tell us a little bit of what Aira does and a bit about yourself, how you came to the US and things like that. Take it away.
Suman: Okay, alright. First question, let me start with the [unclear 00:02:17] of Aira and how it started.
